Training Levels

From the very first introductory training techniques right through to open racing, there is an FTC award to work to and achieve.

Level 1

Level 1

  • Runback (with or without jumps) straight to the handler
  • Ball retrieve and exchange for reward
  • Four footed turn on a lowered chute (no ball)
  • Flat recall (no jumps) against another dog
  • Four footed turn on a flyball box (no ball)
Level 2

Level 2

  • Four footed turn on the chute with a ball
  • Recall over jumps against another dog
  • Runback (with jumps), straight back to the handler past a dog lining up
  • Four footed turn on the box with ball (with or without props)
  • One jump in, box turn and back to handler over one jump
Level 3
speed

Level 3

  • Two jumps in, box turn and back to handler over two jumps
  • Two jumps in, box turn and full run out
  • Runback (with jumps), straight back to the handler with a dog doing a loose pass
  • One jump in, box turn and back to handler over one jump (against another dog, turning away from the lane)
  • Full run including jumps and box turn

Level 4

  • Two jumps in, box turn and back to handler over two jumps (head-to-head against the other lane)
  • Head-to-head against dog in the other lane (turning away from the other lane)
  • Head-to-head against dog in the other lane (turning towards the other lane)
  • Full run with a dog racing in the same lane with loose passes (running either first or second)
  • Full run as part of a team, with loose passes (running any position)
